In New Zealand recently, there has been devastation through flooding. My heart goes out to those people who have lost loved ones, animals, crops, businesses, and homes. I cannot even imagine the suffering they are going through.
These events in the natural can have a parallel in the spiritual. Often in a flood, sandbags are used to protect the property or house from flooding. It can stop the water that threatens at bay.
This week, the Lord has been speaking to me about spiritual protection like a sandbag. A sandbag could be like a statement of what the Lord has said.
In life, we can still struggle like Eve did when she listened to the serpent. Did God really say that? The Lord wants me to know presently, to be still, and know that He is God. I may have more time on my hands these days just to be still, but life is so full of distractions and at times, old worldly thinking patterns, which in my mind can be like the water rising. Floods ready to create chaos and mess.
What could be some sandbags to place for protection? For me this week, some of my sandbags are
That I am valuable.
That I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
The Lord is my shepherd, and I shall not want.
I can trust Him to direct my steps.
Also, to some of the personal directions that the Lord has told me. I have written them down to remind me when situations are challenging.
As I follow Him and learn to renew my mind to His ways, then my foundations will be built on the rock of Jesus’s words. Then I will cope with the next storm that comes my way.
