When life throws you a curve ball, how do you respond? For many years, I would respond by living in a state of stress, which of course, can impact health in many different ways.
For me personally, it has often manifested as pain. So I know that if I am struggling with pain, I must resolve underlying problems.
As I walked my dog, Gemma, recently, a drama happened in the local community related to the recent floods that impacted me personally, and I was upset. As it is my morning habit to listen to something positive, I listened to a podcast on the love of God. I remembered a time when I was so miserable that, in a state of desperation, I had to tell myself over and over that God loves me.
Now I am moving more into sitting with God, experiencing His love, and remembering His love, even if I cannot feel His presence right at the moment I need it. I remember the love I have for my children, which can’t be diminished by any circumstance, and the love that God has shown me by sending His only son to die for me.
Today, I am choosing to lean back into God’s love more and more, and I remind myself that nothing can separate me from His love. And although I may experience moments of uncertainty, I choose to focus on His love. Doing this over the day as I struggled took me from my frozen state of panic in response to a frightening circumstance to one of peace.
Romans 8:38 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
